Who We Are
The founders of the Miss Orange & Blue Charity Calendar are alumni and fans of the University of Virginia. Our team has skills and experience in photography, design, print production, recruitment of attractive female friends and relatives, and making things work. We decided back in 2011 and 2012 to recruit beautiful women from among the fanbase to make a calendar that could raise money for charity. Our first calendar was issued for 2013, and the models appearing in that calendar are all either U.Va. students, alumnae, fans, or their relatives. Despite our common bond to this university, the calendar was and is in no way an official university-related product.
What We Do
Despite the dot-com address, we are an organization, not a business. None of the models, photographers, designers, or organizers are paid for their time and effort. Only the third party that prints the calendar gets paid, and that payment is at retail cost, including sales taxes. After printing and shipping costs are covered, all remaining money acquired from the calendars is divided equally among the models' designated charities. The calendar staff rounds up any fractional amounts to the nearest whole dollar out of their own pockets, so technically we lose money. Not one penny from this effort is kept by anyone in the Miss Orange & Blue organization.
Calendar App Currently in the Works
The 2015 Calendar turned a profit, and we distributed the proceeds to the following charities: The American Cancer Society, Children's Hospital, Children's Miracle Network*, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society*, the Live and Give Foundation, the P.U.N.T. Foundation, Rewrite Beautiful, Virginia Food Bank, and the Wounded Warrior Project.* Asterisked charities are supported by two models and will receive a double share of the proceeds. We're taking 2016 off and working on a 2017 calendar app for phones and tablets.
